Kayaking and Canoeing

I have been sea kayaking for over 30 years and as a founder member of the Causeway Coast Kayak Association www.ccka.co.uk have introduced many hundreds of paddlers to sea kayaking and trained numerous coaches to all levels. I have a particular love of exploring islands by kayak and have led expeditions off the coasts of Co.Kerry, Co.Galway, Co.Mayo and many times to Co.Donegal and Rathlin Island . I have written ‘A Sea Canoeist's Guide to the Causeway Coast ' and contributed to ‘Oileain'.

I am a B.C.U. Level 5 Sea and Surf coach, and Level 4 Open Canoe and W.W. Kayak coach. I have been involved in the development of equipment, techniques, kayak and canoe coaches and the coaching scheme for over 25 years both as a coach and assessor. I am a regular contributor at the Scottish and Irish Sea Kayak Symposiums, and enjoy Inuit style paddling, kayak surfing and have organised many traditional boat gatherings and regattas.
